Setup, Diagnostic and Support Utilities
Using the Setup Utility
The Setup utility is a preinstalled, ROM-based utility which can
be used even when the operating system is not working or will not
load. If the operating system is working, the tablet PC will restart
the operating system after you exit the Setup utility.
Because the Setup utility is not Windows-based, it does not
support the pen, the on-screen keyboard, or the pointing device
on an optional tablet PC keyboard.

To make selections when an optional keyboard is not in the
system, navigate by scrolling the jog dial and select by
pressing the jog dial inward.

To make selections when an optional keyboard is in the
system, navigate and select with the arrow and
enter
keys.

You cannot type, for example, to set a password, in the Setup
utility unless an optional keyboard is in the system.
Step-by-step instructions for Setup utility procedures are
provided throughout the tablet PC guides. These procedures can
be used by all users.
The menu tables later in this chapter provide an overview of the
Setup utility options that may be helpful to advanced users who
prefer to use the Setup utility without following step-by-step
procedures.
