Before removing the fan, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for disassembly on page 42).
2. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 31).
3. Disconnect the battery (see Battery on page 33).
TIP: You do not have to remove the fan to remove the system board. You can remove the fan with the
system board still installed.
Remove the fan:
1. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board (1).
2. Remove the three Phillips M2.5 × 3.5 screws (2) that secure the fan to the computer.
3. Remove the fan from the computer (3).
Reverse this procedure to install the fan.
