Contents
Whenever
you
change
the
current
word
size,
the
contents
of
the
stack
are
affected
(as
explained
under
Word
Size
in
section
3),
while
those
of
the
storage
registers
are
not.
However,
a
change
in
word
size
does
change
the
size
and
boundaries
(and
total
number)
of
the
storage
registers.
This
can
make
a
specific
set
of
stored
bits
inaccessible
in
its
original
form—until
you
restore
the
original
word
size.
Therefore,
you
can
temporarily
change
the
word
size
(for
instance,
for
a
calculation),
and
still
recover
your
stored
data
when
you
return
to
the
original
word
size.
Example:
The
following
sequence
illustrates
what
happens
to
data
stored
in
R;
and
R,
when
the
word
size
is
doubled
(from
16
to
32)
and
then
restored
to
its
original
size.
