Removal and replacement procedures
2. Loosen the two Phillips PM2.0×6.0 captive screws 1 that secure the mass storage device cover to
the computer.
3. Lift the left side of the cover 2 to detach it from the computer.
4. Remove the mass storage device cover 3. The mass storage device cover is included in the Plastics Kit, spare
part numbers 583279-001 (for use only with HP Compaq 6545b and 6540b computer models) and 583954-001
(for use only with HP Compaq 6445b and 6440b computer models).
5. Loosen the Phillips PM2.5×13.0 captive screw 1 that secures the mass storage device in the mass storage
device bay.
6. Grasp the Mylar tab 2 on the mass storage device bracket, and slide the mass storage device 3 to the right to
disconnect it from the system board.
7. Remove the mass storage device 4 from the mass storage device bay.
