Before removing the ExpressCard assembly, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 72).
5.
Remove the following components:

Mass storage device (see

●
Optical drive (see
Optical drive on page 86)
●
Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 88)
●
Switch cover (see

●

Remove the ExpressCard assembly:
NOTE: Steps 1 through 3 apply only to computer models equipped with a 15.6-in display assembly.
See steps 4 and 5 for information on removing the ExpressCard assembly on computer models
equipped with a 14.0-in display assembly.
1. Disconnect the speaker cable (1) from the ExpressCard assembly.
2. Lift the right side (2) of the ExpressCard assembly to disconnect it from the system board.
