Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet,
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 72).
5.
Remove the following components:
a.
Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 88)
b.
Switch cover (see
Switch cover on page 94“)
c.
Fan (see
Fan on page 102)
Remove the heat sink:
1.
Following the 1, 2, 3, 4 sequence stamped into the heat sink, loosen the four Phillips PM2.5×9.0
captive screws (1) that secure the heat sink to the system board.
NOTE: Due to the adhesive quality of the thermal material located between the heat sink and
system board components, it may be necessary to move the heat sink from side to side to detach
it.
2. Lift the right side of the heat sink (2) until it rests at an angle.
