Before removing the card reader/USB board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power cord.
4.
Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 72).
5.
Remove the following components:
a.
Bluetooth module (see
Bluetooth module on page 74)
b.
Mass storage device (see
Mass storage device on page 75)
c.
Optical drive (see
Optical drive on page 86)
d.
Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 88)
e.
Switch cover (see
Switch cover on page 94)
f.
Palm rest (see
Palm rest on page 98)
g.
TouchPad (see
TouchPad on page 100)
h.
Display assembly (see
Display assembly on page 109)

Remove the card reader/USB board:
1.
Release the ZIF connector to which the card reader/USB board cable is attached, and then
disconnect the card reader/USB board cable (1) from the system board.
2. Remove the slotted Torx T8M2.5×7.0 screw (2) that secures the card reader/USB board to the
base enclosure.
3. Lift the left side (3) of the card reader/USB board to release the connectors from the openings in
the base enclosure.
