4. Slide the access panel about 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) toward the bottom of the unit, and then lift the
access panel up and off the chassis.

Removing the left metal side cover
NOTE: Do not remove the metal side cover to install a SODIMM. The SODIMM compartment is in
the right side of the chassis.
You must remove the metal side cover to access internal components such as the battery or to install
a flash memory module, internal hard drive, or PCI-Express card.
1. Push the tab in the front edge of the side cover toward the back to release the sided cover (1).
2. Lift the front edge of the metal side cover (2), then pull the cover to the front and lift it off the
chassis (3).

Replacing the left metal side cover
1. Place the metal side cover on the chassis, rear edge first, making sure to insert the two tabs of
the rear edge into the notches in the chassis (1).
