2.7 Protection
2.7.1 Equipment Level Protection
Table 2-6 shows the equipment level protection provided by the OptiX OSN 7500.

Note:
The OptiX OSN 7500 supports the coexistence of two TPS protection groups of different
types.
2.7.2 Network Level Protection
In terms of network level protection, the OptiX OSN 7500 supports four-fiber/two-fiber
multiplex section protection (MSP) ring, linear MSP, shared optical path virtual trail
protection and sub-network connection protection (SNCP).
The four-fiber/two-fiber MSP ring can be constructed for STM-64, STM-16, STM-4
and STM-1 services for protection. Table 2-7 shows the maximum number of MSP
rings supported by the OptiX OSN 7500. At one time, the OptiX OSN 7500 only
supports one protection scheme in the following table.
