Function Description

The swimming pool heat pump is designed as an economical and efficient system for heating swimming pools. It utilizes free, renewable energy from the air and earth, delivering significantly more heating energy (up to five times) than traditional systems like gas boilers or electric heaters. This results in substantial cost savings (up to 4/5) compared to conventional heating methods. The heat pump extends the swimming season, offering comfort for swimming not only in summer but also in spring, autumn, and even winter.

Key features include:

  • Ecological and economical heating: It consumes less energy with low carbon emissions by using renewable energy from outdoor air. It also employs environmentally friendly refrigerant R32, which does not deplete the ozone layer.
  • Titanium heat-exchanger: An advanced titanium heat-exchanger ensures a long lifespan, free from corrosion and rust. This allows the heat pump to be used with various water treatment types, including chlorinate, iodine, bromine, and salt water.
  • Multiple functions: The unit offers heating capabilities, auto-operating, auto-restart, and a timer on/off function, eliminating the need for constant human attendance. It operates within a wide ambient running range of 5°C to 43°C.
  • Reliable operation: To ensure stable and safe performance, the heat pump incorporates multiple protection devices, such as water flow protection and high/low pressure protections.
  • Safe using: The heat pump operates without oil, gas, or other hazardous substances, minimizing potential risks associated with gas connections or fuel tanks. It eliminates the risk of intoxication, smell, or pollution from gas/fuel leakage.
  • Self-diagnosis: In case of malfunction, the unit performs self-diagnosis and displays an error code on the controller screen for easy identification.

Usage Features

Installation:

  • The unit must be installed on a flat, horizontal, and stable surface.
  • Maintain 1m of open space in front of the grille and 3m on the outlet side of the ventilator.
  • Ensure sufficient space for operating the controller.
  • Avoid directing ventilated air towards sensitive noise zones (e.g., room windows).
  • Avoid positioning the unit on surfaces that can transmit vibrations to dwellings.
  • Avoid placing the appliance under a tree or in areas exposed to water or mud to simplify maintenance.
  • Water connection: The heat pump connects to a filtration circuit with a by-pass, which must be placed after the pump and filter. The by-pass typically consists of 3 valves, allowing regulation of water flow through the heat pump and isolation for maintenance without interrupting filtered water flow. If water treatment products are used, the by-pass should be installed before the water treatment, with a non-return valve between them.
  • Electrical connection: Electrical supply must match appliance requirements (220-240V~, 1Ph, 50Hz). Connection cables must be sized according to appliance power and installation needs (e.g., 3x1.5mm² for A5/32, A7/32; 3x2.5mm² for A10/32, A13/32). The unit must always have an earthed connection, and extension cables should not be used. Cable glands and grommets provided inside the heat pump should be used for routing cables.

Starting Up for the First Time:

  1. Turn on the filter pump and check for leaks, ensuring water flows to and from the pool.
  2. Connect power to the heat pump and press the ON/OFF button. The unit will start after a 3-minute time delay (protection for electronics and contacts).
  3. After a few minutes, check if the expelled air is cooler.
  4. Leave the appliance and filter pump running 24 hours a day until the desired water temperature is reached. The heat pump will then cease operation and automatically restart when the pool temperature drops 1 degree below the programmed temperature (provided the filter pump is running).
  • Covering the swimming pool can significantly shorten the heating period.

Controller Operation: The controller features a display and several buttons:

  • Power On/Off (ن): Hold for 5s to power off/on. In setting/query interface, press to exit and store parameters.
  • SET: On home screen, press to enter status parameter query; hold for 5s to enter parameter setting. In query interface, press to set parameters. In setting interface, press to confirm and return to upper-level menu.
  • UP (▲): On home screen, press to increase SPT (set temperature). In query interface, press to switch to previous parameter. In setting interface, press to increase parameter value.
  • DOWN (▼): On home screen, press to decrease SPT. In query interface, press to switch to next parameter. In setting interface, press to decrease parameter value.
  • The system automatically saves parameter changes and exits to the home screen if no key is pressed within 10s.

Parameter Setting:

  • SPT (Target temperature control): Adjustable between lower (SPTL) and upper (SPTH) temperature limits. Default is 25°C.
  • Operating mode: C (Cooling) or H (Heating). Default is H.
  • Hysteresis temperature (De): 1°C to 15°C. Default is 3°C.
  • Lower temperature limit (SPTL): -30°C to SPTH. Default is 10°C.
  • Upper temperature limit (SPTH): SPTL to 70°C. Default is 40°C.
  • Load minimum downtime (DT): 1min to 15min. Default is 3min.
  • T2 enable: 0 (Disable) or 1 (Enable). Default is 0.
  • T1C/T2C (Sensor calibration): -9°C to +9°C. Default is 0°C.
  • T2LS (T2 under-temperature value): 3°C to 20°C. Default is 7°C.
  • Power failure memory validity: 0 (Invalid) or 1 (Valid). Default is 1.

Protection Functions:

  • T2 under-temperature protection: In heating mode, if T2 sensor detects 7°C or lower for 5s, protection is activated. The unit won't start or will stop load output. It automatically clears when T2 is 2 degrees higher than T2LS.
  • T1 sensor fault: If T1 sensor detects >99°C (short-circuit) or <-40°C (open-circuit) for 5s, the load stops. Fault automatically recovers.
  • T2 sensor fault: If T2 sensor detects >99°C (short-circuit) or <-40°C (open-circuit) for 5s, an alarm is generated. In heating mode, the unit stops. Fault automatically recovers.
  • Fault Codes: E0 (T2 under-temperature), E1 (T1 short-circuit), E2 (T1 open-circuit), E3 (T2 short-circuit), E4 (T2 open-circuit), E5 (Thermostat hardware fault). These codes can also indicate low voltage faults or refrigerant leakage, requiring professional maintenance.

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance:

  • To protect the paintwork, avoid leaning or placing objects on the device.
  • External parts can be wiped with a damp cloth and domestic cleaner. Avoid cleaning agents containing sand, soda, acid, or chloride, as these can damage surfaces.
  • Ensure the heat exchanger is not contaminated to prevent faults due to sediments. If malfunctions occur due to contamination, the system should be cleaned.
  • Warning: The fins on the finned tube heat exchanger are sharp-edged; exercise caution to avoid cuts.

Cleaning:

  • Pipe system in the heat exchanger: Contamination can reduce performance. If this occurs, the pipe system and heat exchanger must be cleaned by a technician using only pressurized drinking water.
  • Air system: The finned heat exchanger, ventilator, and condensate outflow should be cleaned of contaminants (leaves, twigs, etc.) before each new heating period. These can be removed manually with compressed air or by flushing with clean water. The device cover and air inlet grid may need to be removed first.
  • Attention: Before opening the device, ensure all circuits are isolated from the power supply. Do not use hard or sharp objects for cleaning to prevent damage to the evaporator and condensate tray.
  • In extreme weather (e.g., snow drifts), ice may form on the air intake and exhaust grids. This ice must be removed to maintain minimum airflow.

Winter Shutdown/Lay-up:

  • If there is a risk of frost after the bathing season, and the external temperature is expected to drop below the operating limit, the water circuit of the heat pump should be completely drained.
  • Alternatively, the customer must implement suitable constructional measures to protect the heat pump from frost damage.
  • Attention: The warranty does not cover damage caused by inadequate lay-up measures during winter.

Troubleshooting:

  • Before contacting a dealer, perform a visual inspection for obvious defects like loose connections or faulty wiring.
  • If the heat pump does not run, check for supply voltage (fuse, power failure) and ensure the operating switch on the wired controller is on with the correct set point temperature.
  • If the set temperature is not reached, check if permissible operating conditions are met (air temperatures not too high/low), if the air inlet/outlet is blocked or dirty, or if water pipes have closed valves/stop-cocks.
  • If faults cannot be corrected, contact an authorized and qualified after-sales service technician. Work on the heat pump should only be carried out by such personnel.

Recycling:

  • The equipment contains fluorinated greenhouse gases (R32) covered by the Kyoto Protocol. R32 has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) = 675.
  • Servicing and dismantling must be done by professionally trained personnel. Do not vent R32 into the atmosphere.
  • Disposal of the unit, refrigerant, oil, and other parts must comply with local and national legislation.
  • The product is marked with a symbol indicating that electrical and electronic products should not be mixed with unsorted household waste.
  • Users should not attempt to dismantle the system themselves.
  • Three disposal solutions are provided: local recycling centre, social service organization for repair and reuse, or returning to the heat pump distributor against a new purchase.
