A. This water heater does not have a pilot. It is equipped with an ignition device that
automaticallylightstheburner.Donot
trytolighttheburnerbyhand.
B. BEFORE OPERATING smell all around the water heater area for evidence of leaking gas. Be
sure to smell next to the floor because some gas is heavier than air and will settle on the
floor.
WHATTODOIFYOUSMELLGAS.
Donottrytolightanyappliance.
Donottouchanyelectricswitch;donotuseanyphoneinyourbuilding.
Immediatelycallyourgassupplierfromaneighbor'sphone.Followthegassupplier's
instructions.
Ifyoucannotreachyourgassupplier,callthefiredepartment.

Use onlyyourhandtoturn the gas valveknob. Never use tools. If the knobwillnot turn by
hand,don'ttrytorepairit,callaqualifiedservicetechnician.Forceorattemptedrepairmay
resultinafireofexplosion.
D. Do notuse this water heater if
any part has beenunder water. Immediately call a qualified
servicetechniciantoinspectthewaterheaterandtoreplaceanydamagedparts.
OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS
1. STOP!ReadthesafetyinformationaboveorintheOwnersManual.
2. Turnoffallelectricpowertothewaterheater.
3. Donotattempttolighttheburnerbyhand.
4. Turnthemanualgasvalvelocatedontheoutsideoftheunitclockwise↻totheoffposition.
5. Waitfive(5)minutestoclearoutanygas.Ifyouthensmellgas.STOP!Follow"B"inthesafety
informationaboveonthislabel.Ifyoudon'tsme llgas,gotonextstep.
6. Turnthemanualgasvalvelocatedontheoutsideoftheunitcounterclockwise
↺totheON
position.
7. Turnonallelectricalpowertothewaterheater.
8. Ifthewaterheaterwillnotoperate,followtheinstructions“toTurnOffGastowaterheater"
andCallyourservicetechnicianorgassupplier.
TOTURNOFFGASTOAPPLIANCE
1. Turnoffallelectricpowertothewaterheaterifserviceistobeperformed.
2. Turnthemanualgasvalvelocatedontheoutsideoftheunitclockwise↻totheoff position.
