Each storage image has access to the following components:
v 50 percent of the processors
v 50 percent of the processor memory
v Up to 16 host adapters (4 I/O drawers with up to 4 host adapters)
v Up to 320 disk drives (up to 96 TB of capacity)
Required hardware components to build a storage image
When you build a storage image, you need to consider your I/O resources, the
processor and memory allocations, and the RIO-G interconnect separation.
The Hardware Management Console (HMC) manages the resource allocation on a
pSeries between LPARs. However, the DS8300 comes preconfigured with all
required LPAR resources assigned to either storage image.
Figure 7 on page 97 shows the split of all available resources between the two
storage images. Each storage image has 50% of all available resources.
