DS8000 User’s Guide
This document contains terminology, maintenance, and editorial changes. Technical
changes or additions to the text and illustrations are indicated by a vertical line to
the left of the change. This summary of changes describes new functions that have
been added to this release.
New Information
This edition includes the following new information:
v Chapter 2, the section Upgrading the DS Storage Manager on Windows, in silent
mode was added to show the steps for upgrading the DS Storage Manager.
v Chapter 3, the section Upgrading the DS Storage Manager on Linux, in silent
mode was added to show the steps for upgrading the DS Storage Manager.
v Chapter 8, the section FlashCopy information was added to explain how to set
up a Remote FlashCopy operation, which allows a source volume of a remote
mirror and copy volume pair on a source (local) storage unit to be sent across
paths (acting as a conduit) to a target storage unit to enable a FlashCopy pair to
be established at the target site. This eliminates the need for a network
connection to the target site solely for the management of FlashCopy.

The following information was updated or changed:
v Chapter 2, the section Installing the DS Storage Manger on the Windows
operating system using the graphical mode was updated to include information
about new version checking and progress windows.
v Chapter 3, the section Installing the DS Storage Manger on the Linux operating
system using the graphical mode was updated to include information about new
version checking and progress windows.
