First, ensure the power cord is firmly plugged into the outlet. If it's still not turning on, test the outlet by plugging another appliance into it to check if the circuit is powered. Lastly, make sure the oven door is fully closed, as the fryer may not turn on if the door is open.

Why is black smoke coming from my Instant VORTEX PLUS Fryer?
    • S
      Seth ClarkAug 26, 2025
Black smoke may appear due to using an oil with a low smoke point or food residue on the heating coil, in the cooking chamber, or on the accessories. To resolve this, cancel the Smart Program, unplug the cooker, and allow it to cool. If the oil is the problem, choose a neutral oil with a high smoke point, such as Canola, Avocado, Soybean, Safflower, or Rice Bran. If it's food residue, remove all accessories and thoroughly clean the cooking chamber and all accessories. If the issue persists, it may be an appliance malfunction, and you should contact Consumer Care.

What to do if white smoke comes out of my Instant VORTEX PLUS Fryer?
    • J
      jamiemillerAug 29, 2025
White smoke can occur for a few reasons. It might be due to food having a high fat content, such as bacon, sausage, or hamburger. Avoid air frying foods with a high fat content. Another possibility is that water is vaporizing, producing thick steam. Always pat-dry moist foods before air frying, and do not add water or other liquid to the cooking chamber when air frying. Lastly, seasoning on the food might have blown onto the element. Lightly spray vegetables and meats with cooking oil before seasoning to ensure that the seasoning adheres to the food.

      Reginald JacksonSep 5, 2025
White smoke can occur when cooking foods with a high fat content, if water is vaporizing, or if seasoning has blown onto the element. To prevent this, avoid air frying foods high in fat, and check for and remove excess oil from the cooking chamber. Pat dry moist food before air frying and avoid adding water to the cooking chamber. When seasoning, spray food with oil first to help the seasoning stick.

White smoke from your Instant Fryer can occur for a few reasons. It might be due to cooking foods with a high fat content, like bacon. Try to avoid air frying such foods. Also, check the cooking chamber for excess oil or fat and carefully remove it. Another reason could be water vaporizing; pat dry moist food before air frying and avoid adding water to the cooking chamber.
