TRANSPORTATION OF WHEELCHAIRS IN VEHICLES RECOMMENDED RESTRAINT
METHODS - FOR FOLDING FRAME CHAIRS:
For additional information, consult your INVACARE dealer.
For transportation purposes other than disassembly, the powerchairs may be used in vehicles which have
been modified specifically for the purpose. The powerchair must be secured using these recommended
restraint methods. A standard crash test (ISO7176 – Part 19) was successfully carried out with the
chair restrained facing the front of the vehicle. It is recommended that these guidelines are
followed.
The powerchairs are not designed or manufactured to be replacements for purpose built vehicle seating. The
occupant must be secured to the vehicle separately in addition to any wheelchair restraints. See Fig. No 2.
Manually operated drive wheel-locks must be used whilst the powerchair is being transported. Figs. No 1A
and 1B. show the route of the battery transportation strap and the position of the velcro fastening.
