Pinch Points

Pinch point may occur when returning
the tilted seat to the full upright
position. Make sure the hands and body
of the occupant, attendants and
bystanders are clear of all pinch points
before lowering seat (FIGURE 3.2).

seat.

mechanics.Keepyourbackstraightandbendyourkneeswhenevertiltingwheelchairor
traversingcurbsorotherimpediments.
Also,beawareofdetachablepartssuchasarmsorlegrests.ThesemustNEVERbeused
tomovethewheelchair
orasliftingsupports,astheymaybeinadvertentlyreleased,
resultinginpossibleinjurytotheuserand/orassistant(s).
Whenlearninganewassistancetechnique,haveanexperiencedassistanthelpyoubefore
attemptingitalone.
