In the average, the line argument is 80°. The ratio of output
voltage versus output current is 2ZL.
The connection to the line to be tested is performed as shown in
the following figure. For the connection, it is advisable to use the
SU3000 protection module shown in the figure. The procedure is
the following.
- The test is performed on two lines, 1 and 2, that are short-
circuited between them at the other end of the line.
- Open SU3000. Connect one side to ground, and the other side to
two cables: one will go to T 2000, the other to the line to be
tested. Note that until the SU3000 is OPEN, the switch is open,
and there is no ground connection.
- Close SU3000, close the switch: the two cables are connected
to ground. Now you can connect to T 2000 output, and to the line
no. 1, that will be closed to ground.
- Connect line 2 to the other output of T 2000.
- SU3000 can be left closed for added safety, as it does not
influence the current path, PROVIDED THAT THE LINE IS NOT
GROUNDED AT THE FAR END. If lines are grounded at the far end,
the safety device switch should be opened prior to testing.
