Domestic Hot Water Heating
Engine Heat Management
8.1 Before You Begin
The Oasis
®
SCH33™ can provide domestic hot water by
being plumbed to an optional external heat exchanger or a
domestic water heater (with an internal heat transfer coil).
On the water heater, an adjustable aquastat (part # 1024) is
fastened to the its storage tank. On the external heat
exchanger, a pre-set aquastat (part #1116) is fastened to
the flat portion of the heat exchanger using a mounting
bracket. In both cases, the aquastat is wired to the W1 and
W2 terminals on the main control board to control the burner
and circulation pump. We recommend a manual switch be
wired in series with the aquastat.
When the Oasis
®
SCH33™ is used only for heating domestic
water and space heating is not required, an optional three-
way valve or electric solenoid can be installed. This valve is
intended to divert the heat transfer fluid through the heat
exchanger but not the space heating loop Refer to Fig. 8-1.
The selector valve should be mounted so it is easy to reach.
An electric solenoid valve can be used for this if desired.
See Figure 6-4 for details of the electrical connections for a
solenoid.
Also, waste heat from the engine can be transferred to the
heating loop for supplemental heat via an optional second
heat exchanger. With the addition of an optional secondary
circulation pump, this heat exchanger can also be used to
pre-heat the engine.
For help with wiring the electrical components of the heat
exchanger, refer to Figure 6-4 wiring schematic in Section 6,
Wiring the Electrical System.
