ProTIG 220/300 AC/DC
Operating manual Page 33
In AC process the following parameters can be set:
Pulse main current Ip: 5 – 220/300A (corresponds main current I1)
Pulse base current Ib: 5 – 220/300A
Time pulse current: 0.1 – 0.99s (10Hz – 1Hz)
Time base current Tb: 0.1 – 0.99s (10Hz – 1Hz)
9. Rotating knob
With the knob all the parameters and values of the machine can be set.
10. VRD – look chapter 24
11. Frequency / Balance / Amplitude (only for AC machines in welding process AC (LED 20)
By tapping on the button Frequenz/Balance (item 11),
it is possible to switch between the frequency, balance and
Amplitude. The corresponding LED lights.
Frequency 40Hz to 250Hz (LED 110):
Continuously adjustable in the AC process.
A higher frequency results in a more stable arc, especially suitable for thin metal sheets.
Balance -35 to +10 (LED 111 is flashing):
Continuously adjustable in the AC process.
This parameter permits to adjust the positive-to-negative half-wave time ratio. In zero position, the positive
half-wave is as high as the negative. This timing of half-waves allows to adjust penetration depth, power
load, thermal load on the electrode and the purifying effect to the specific welding task.
Rising the negative half-wave (number less 0) causes
deeper penetration, narrow weld seam
higher electric loading capacity of electrode
lower thermal load on tungsten electrode
lower purifying effect
Rising the positive half-wave (number greater then 0) causes
less deep penetration, broader weld-seam
lower electric loading capacity of electrode
higher thermal load on tungsten electrode
better purifiying effect
Amplitude -50 to +20 (LED 111a is flashing rhythmically):
To activate this function, the button must be pressed longer in the balance function 11 until the LED 111a
begins to flash rhythmically. Continuously adjustable in the AC process.
This parameter sets the amplitude of the positive and negative half-wave.
In zero position, both amplitudes are equal. The default value is -15%.
Example: Current 100A - Amplitude -20%
Postive half-wave 80A - negative half-wave 120A
11 - Frequency / Balance / Amplitude
110 - Frequency at AC
111 - Balance at AC
111a - Amplitude at AC
