Section 7. General Troubleshooting
Problem Possible Cause Corrective Action
Chlorine level too low ORP set level is too low. Check chlorine level with test kit and adjust
ORP set level as necessary.
Saltwater chlorinator issue. Check the saltwater chlorinator and its cell.
Dailyltrationtimetoolow. Increasedailyltrationtime.
Sensor malfunction. Clean or replace the sensor.
pH too low (leading to high ORP value
even with a low chlorine concentration)
Adjust pH to a value between 7.2 and 7.6
Chlorine level too high ORP set level is too high. Check chlorine and cyanuric acid levels
with test kit and adjust set level as
necessary.
Sensor tip is dirty. Clean according to maintenance
instructions.
pH too high. The chlorine concentration
needed to reach the ORP setpoint is high.
Measure the pH of the water. Check, clean
or replace the pH sensor if needed.
pH level is too low pH set level is too low. Check pH level with test kit and adjust set
level as necessary.
pH dose time too high. Reduce pH dose time (seconds).
pH sensor malfunction. Calibrate, clean or replace the pH sensor.
Alkalinity too low. Check and adjust alkalinity.
Incorrect Muriatic Acid dilution Dilute muriactic acid (4:1 dilution)
pH level too high pH Sensor tip is dirty. Clean according to maintenance
instructions.
Improper pH sensor calibration. Adjust pH calibration.
pH chemical feeder is empty. Rellthefeeder.
Feed pump malfunction. Repair the feed pump.
pH dose time too low. Increase dose time (seconds).
Alkalinity too high. Check and adjust alkalinity.
pH alert LED blinking
(pH is lower than 6.9
or higher than 8.1)
Problem with acid supply. Verify the acid tank is not empty.
Controller undershooting set level. Increase dosing time.
Manual addition. Verify the acid was not manually added.
1) Dilute acid with water, or
2) Lower dosing time.
Controller overshooting set level.
