When using outdoor air for combustion, you must locate
the combustion air intake duct system termination
external to the building and in an area where there is no
exposure to the substances listed above.
Codes and standards
Follow all national and local codes and standards in
addition to this installation manual. The installation must
comply with regulations of the serving gas supplier, local
building, heating, plumbing, and other codes. In the
absence of local codes, the installation must comply with
the national codes listed below and all authorities having
jurisdiction.

These instructions cover minimum requirements and
conform to existing national standards and safety codes.
In some instances, these instructions exceed certain
local codes and ordinances, especially those that do not
reflect changing residential and non-HUD modular home
construction practices. These instructions are required as
a minimum for a safe installation.

For all side wall horizontally vented gas-fueled equipment
installed in every dwelling, building, or structure used
in whole or in part for residential purposes, including
those owned or operated by the Commonwealth and
where the side wall exhaust vent termination is less than
seven (7) feet above finished grade in the area of the
venting, including but not limited to decks and porches,
the following requirements shall be satisfied:
