3.0 Safety
NB! To guarantee optimal performance and safety, Jøtul
recommends that its stoves are tted by a qualied
installer (see www.jotul.com for a complete list of dealers).
Anymodicationstotheproductbythedistributor,installeror
consumermayresultintheproductandsafetyfeaturesnot
functioningasintended.Thesameappliestotheinstallationof
accessoriesoroptionalextrasnotsuppliedbyJøtul.Thismay
also be the case if parts that are essential to the functioning and
safetyofthereplacehavebeendisassembledorremoved.
Inallthesecases,themanufacturerisnotresponsibleorliable
fortheproductandtherighttomakeacomplaintbecomesnull
and void.
NB: Parts of the stove, in particular, the external surfaces, get
hotduringcombustion!Exercisecaution!
3.1 Fire Prevention Measures
There is a certain element of danger every time you use
your replace. The following instructions must therefore be
followed:
• Theminimumsafetydistanceswheninstallingandusing
thereplacearegivening. 1.
• Ensure that furniture and other ammable materials are
nottooclosetothereplace.Flammablematerialsshould
notbeplacedwithin900mmofthereplace.
• Allowtheretoburnout.Neverextinguishtheameswith
water.
• Thereplacebecomeshotwhenlitandmaycauseburns
if touched.
• Only remove ash when the replace is cold. Ash can
contain hot embers and should therefore be placed in a
non-ammablecontainer.
• Ashshouldbeplacedoutdoorsorbeemptiedinaplace
whereitwillnotpresentapotentialrehazard.
In case of chimney re:
• Close all hatches and vents.
• Keepthereboxdoorclosed.
• Checktheloftandcellarforsmoke.
• Callthereservice.
• Beforeuseafterareanexpertmustcheckthereplace
andthechimneyinordertoensurethatitisfullyfunctional.
Steel chimney
If a top-mounted steel chimney is used, t an uninsulated
pipefromthe burn chambertoapprox. 10 mmoverthe top
grate. Make sure that the gasket is properly seated between
theuepipeandthesmokeoutlet.Thentthesteelchimney
in accordance with the chimney supplier’s installation
instructions.
3.2 Floor
Foundation
Youneedtomakesurethefoundationissuitableforareplace.
See “2.0 Technical Data”forspeciedweight.
Werecommendtheremovalofanyooringthatisnotattached
tothefoundation(“oatingoors”)beneaththeinstallation.
Requirements for protection of
inammable oors in front of the
replace
Thefrontplatemustcomplywithnationallawsandregulations.
Contact your local building authorities regarding restrictions
andinstallationrequirements.
3.3 Walls
Distance to walls made of combustible material - see g. b
Distance to combustible wall protected by rewall: See
g. 1c.
The replace may be used with an uninsulated ue pipe
providedthedistancesbetweenthereplaceandwallsmade
ofcombustiblematerialsareasshowning. 1b. Alternative
distances with shielded or insulated ue pipe are also
displayeding.1b.
NB: Place the product in such a way that it is possible to clean
thestove,theuepipeandthechimneypassage.
Note! Ensure that furniture and other ammable materials
are not too close to the replace. Flammable materials
should not be placed within 900 mm of the replace.
NB: Makesurethatfurnitureandotherhouseholditemsare
not so close as to get dried up by the stove.
3.4 Ceiling
The fireplace can be fitted with the top edge of the hot air
opening of the surround at least 750 mm below a ceiling
of inflammable material.
