6-6 Adjusting the shield

Carryouttheadjustmentoftheshieldafteryouhavecheckedthefeedtiming.

Turn the power ON. Select the pattern such as a zigzag pattern that is sewn using the needle throwing function.
Adjustmentprocedure
1. Loosen the setscrew of the shield collar. (Fig. 1)
 2.Turnthehandwheeltobringtheneedlebartoitslowestdeadpoint.
 3.Then,turnthepulleyclockwisefromthestateasdescribedabovetoadjusttheshieldsothattheneedleis
thrown to the right and left at the position where the needle tip is spaced 7 to 7.5 mm from the top surface
of the throat plate. Then, tighten the setscrew of the shield collar. (Fig. 2)
 * Usethe#14needle(SCHMETZneedle#90).
(Caution) After tightening the setscrew, check to make sure that the shield does not come in contact with
the sensor.
If the former comes in contact with the latter, loosen the sensor setscrew and adjust the lateral
position of the sensor.
