ACX5048 Quick Start Description
This Quick Start contains information you need to install and configure the router quickly.
For complete installation instructions, see the ACX5000 Universal Access Routers
Hardware Guide at http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/.
Starting in Release 15.1X54-D20, Junos OS supports the ACX5000 Universal Access
Routers (model numbers: ACX5048-DC and ACX5048-AC). The ACX5000 routers are
high-capacity and low-cost aggregation routers best suited for Metro and Carrier Ethernet
Aggregation deployments. The ACX5000 router portfolio consists of high-performance,
fixed-configuration routers that add higher port densities, additional scalability, and
improved latency to the ACX Series. The ACX5000 routers are available in AC and DC
power variants.
The following are the key features of the ACX5048 router:
•
Forty-eight 10-Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ ports that can be configured as 1-Gigabit Ethernet
ports that support 1-gigabit small form-factor pluggable transceivers (SFP)
•
Six 40-Gigabit Ethernet ports with quad form-factor pluggable plus transceivers
(QSFP+)
•
Aggregate throughput of up to 1.44 Tbps
•
Maximum power requirement of up to 350 W (with optical SFPs)
The ACX5048 router is a top-of-rack, 10-Gigabit Ethernet router with 48 SFP+ ports and
6 QSFP+ ports. Each SFP+ port can operate as a native 10-Gbps port or as a 1-Gbps port.
Each QSFP+ port (ports 48 through 53) can operate at native 40-Gbps speed or can be
channelized into four independent ports with 10-Gbps speed. The six QSFP+ ports can
be used as either access ports or uplink ports. The ACX5048 router has a 1 U form factor
and is shipped with redundant fans and redundant power supplies. The router can be
ordered with AC or DC power supplies. Figure 1 on page 2 show the ACX5048 Universal
Access Router.
