Also, the discharge line could be blocked; unplug the pump and clear the discharge line. Ensure the shut-off valve is slightly open. The discharge line might be too high or long; unplug the pump and reduce its height or length (11 ft. max). Finally, check that the check valve is correctly installed, with the flow arrow pointing away from the pump.
