When replenishing oil only use
an oil equivalent to spec oil. If

type of oil to use, consult your

CAUTION
(1) Battery
Mishandling the battery shortens the
service life and adds to maintenance
costs. If the battery is insufficiently
charged, the headlights may dim and
the engine is hard to start. It is impor-
tant to inspect the battery periodically.

1. To slow charge the battery, connect
the battery positive terminal to the
charger positive terminal and the
negative to the negative, then re-
charge in the trickle mode.
2. A boost charge is only for emergen-
cies. It will partially charge the bat-
tery at a high rate and in a short time.
When using a boost-charged battery,
it is necessary to recharge the bat-
tery as early as possible.
Failure to do this will shorten the
battery's service life.
3. When exchanging an old battery for
a new one, use a battery that meets
the specifications.
Maintain the same free play be tween
the left and right pedals.

Never open the battery caps
while the engine is running. Keep
electrolyte away from eyes,
hands and clothes. If you are spat-
tered with electrolyte, wash it
away completely with water.
