Always protect starter motor against moisture.
Warning : A/ways disconnect the battery earth cable
before starting work on the electrical system. Connect up
the earth cable last, as there is otherwise a risk of
shortcircuits.
Battery : 24 Volts system ( 2 x 12 V ) is used foe engine starting & engine controls.

4.13.2 Starter motor
The sliding-gear starter motor is flanged to the rear of the flywheel housing on the left-hand side. As parts
of every engine overhaul, the starter pinion and ring gear should be cleaned with a brush dipped in fuel and
then a coat of grease should be applied again.
