Reinstallingsoftwareprograms
Ifasoftwareprogramyouinstalledonyourcomputerisnotworkingcorrectly,youmightneedtoremove
andreinstallit.Reinstallingoverwritestheexistingprogramsfilesandusuallyfixesanyproblemsthat
youmighthavehadwiththatprogram.
Toremoveaprograminyoursystem,seeMicrosoftWindowshelpsystemfordetailedinformation.
Toreinstalltheprogram,dooneofthefollowing:

•Toreinstallmostcommerciallyavailableprogramsinyoursystem,seeMicrosoftWindowshelpsystem
formoreinformation.
•ToreinstallselectedapplicationprogramsthatcamepreinstalledfromLenovo,dothefollowing:
1.Turnonthecomputer.
2.GototheC:\SWTOOLSdirectory.
3.OpentheAPPSfolder.WithintheAPPSfolder,thereareseveralsubfoldersnamedforvarious
applicationsinstalledinyourcomputer.
4.Opentheappropriateapplicationsubfolder.
5.Intheapplicationsubfolder,lookforaSETUP.EXEfileorotherappropriateEXEfilesforsetup.
Double-clickthefileandfollowtheinstructionsonthescreentocompletetheinstallation.
Reinstallingdevicedrivers
Toreinstalladevicedriverforanoptionyouinstalled,refertothedocumentationthatcomeswiththeoption.
Whenyoureinstalldevicedrivers,youarechangingthecurrentconfigurationofyourcomputer.Reinstall
devicedriversonlywhenitisnecessarytocorrectaproblemwithyourcomputer.

Solvingrecoveryproblems
IfyouareunabletoaccesstheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceortheWindowsenvironment,doone
ofthefollowing:
•UsearescuemediumtostarttheRescueandRecoveryworkspace.See“Creatingandusingarescue
medium”onpage52.
•Userecoverymediaifallothermethodsofrecoveryhavefailedandyouneedtorestoretheharddisk
drivetothefactorydefaultsettings.See“Creatingandusingrecoverymedia”onpage49.
Note:IfyouareunabletoaccesstheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceortheWindowsenvironmentfroma
rescuemediumorrecoverymedia,youmightnothavetherescuedevice(aninternalharddiskdrive,adisc,
aUSBharddiskdrive,orotherexternaldevices)setasthefirstbootdeviceinthestartupdevicesequence.
Youmustfirstensurethatyourrescuedeviceissetasthefirstbootdeviceinthestartupdevicesequence
