1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Iftheserverisinstalledinarackcabinet,removetheserverfromtherackcabinetandplaceitonaflat,
clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.SeetheRackInstallationInstructionsthatcomeswiththeserver.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage77.
4.Removethecoolingshroud.See“Removingandreinstallingthecoolingshroud”onpage82.
5.Locatetherisercardassembly1.See“Servercomponents”onpage31.
6.Grasptherisercardassembly1byitsedgesandcarefullyliftitstraightupandoffthechassis.

7.IfthereisanyPCIExpresscardinstalledontherisercardassembly1,especiallywhenaRAIDcardand
anexpandercardareinstalled,recordthecableconnections,disconnectallcablesfromthecard(s),and
thencompletelyremovetherisercardassembly1outofthechassis.
8.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthenewrisercardassembly1toanyunpainted
surfaceontheoutsideoftheserver.Then,removethenewrisercardassembly1fromthepackage.
9.RemovethePCIExpresscard(s)fromtheoldrisercardassembly1andinstallthemonthenewone.
