UsingtheSetupUtilityprogram
ThistopicprovidesinformationaboutusingtheSetupUtilityprogram.
TheSetupUtilityprogramispartoftheserverfirmware.YoucanusetheSetupUtilityprogramtoviewand
changetheconfigurationsettingsofyourserver,regardlessofwhichoperatingsystemyouareusing.
However,theoperatingsystemsettingsmightoverrideanysimilarsettingsintheSetupUtilityprogram.
StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram
ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtostarttheSetupUtilityprogram.
TostarttheSetupUtilityprogram,dothefollowing:
1.Connecttheservertoanacpowersourceandpressthepowerswitchonthefrontpaneltoturnonthe
server.See“Turningontheserver”onpage57
.
2.PresstheF1keyassoonasyouseethelogoscreen.Then,waitforseveralseconds,andtheSetup
Utilityprogramopens.Ifyouhavesetapassword,youneedtotypethecorrectpasswordtoenterthe
SetupUtilityprogram.Forpasswordinformation,see“Usingpasswords”onpage63
.
ViewinginformationintheSetupUtilityprogram
TheSetupUtilityprogrammenulistsvariousitemsaboutthesystemconfiguration.Selectadesireditem
toviewinformationorchangesettings.
WhenworkingwiththeSetupUtilityprogram,youmustusethekeyboard.Thekeysusedtoperformvarious
tasksaredisplayedontherightbottompaneofeachscreen.YoualsocanpresstheF1keyforgeneralhelp
aboutthekeys.Formostitems,thecorrespondinghelpmessageisdisplayedontherighttoppaneofthe
screenwhentheitemisselected.Iftheitemhassubmenus,youcandisplaythesubmenusbypressingEnter.
YoucanviewthefollowinginformationaboutyourspecificservermodelintheSetupUtilityprogram:
•TheMainmenulistsinformationabouttheBIOS,microprocessortype,microprocessorspeedandcore
numbers,totalmemorysize,andsystemdateandtime.
•OntheAdvancedmenu:
–SelectProcessorConfigurationandfollowtheinstructionsonthescreentoviewinformationabout
theinstalledmicroprocessoranditssupportedtechnologies.
–SelectMemoryConfigurationandfollowtheinstructionsonthescreentoviewinformationaboutthe
installedmemorymodules.
–SelectSATA/SASConfigurationandfollowtheinstructionsonthescreentoviewinformationabout
theinstalledSATAorSASdevices,suchasaharddiskdriveoranopticaldrive.
