UsedtorecovertheBIOSifthepowertoyourserverisinterruptedwhiletheBIOSisbeingupdatedandyour
servercannotstartcorrectly.
TorecovertheBIOS,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallexternalmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,
disconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedto
theserver.
2.Prepareyourserver.See“Removingorextendingtheserverfromtherackcabinet”onpage75.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage75.
4.LocatetheBIOSrecoveryswitch3onthesystemboard.Then,removeanypartsanddisconnectany
cablesthatmightimpedeyouraccesstothejumper.
Note:Donotremovethememorymodulesormicroprocessors.
5.MovetheBIOSrecoveryswitchfromthedefaultoffpositiontotheonposition.
6.Reinstallanypartsandreconnectanycables.Then,reinstalltheservercover.See“Completingthe
partsreplacement”onpage206.
7.Connecttheservertoanacpowersource.Theserverturnsonandthenturnsoffautomatically.
8.Waitforabout20minutesfortheTSMtorecovertheBIOS.Topreventpermanentdamage,DONOT
TURNOFFTHESERVERduringtherecoveryprocess.WhentheBIOSrecoveryprocessiscompleted,
theserverturnsonautomatically.
9.EnsurethattheSetupUtilityprogramstartsnormally.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage

.Then,disconnecttheserverfromtheacpowersource.
10.Repeatstep1throughstep3.
11.MovetheBIOSrecoveryswitchbacktotheoffposition.
12.Reinstallanypartsandreconnectanycables.Then,reinstalltheservercover.See“Completingthe
partsreplacement”onpage206.
13.Connecttheservertoanacpowersourceandturnontheserver.CheckandconfiguretheBIOS
settingsforyourspecificneeds.See“UsingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage61.
