Toremoveamemorymodule,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallexternalmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,
disconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedto
theserver.
2.Prepareyourserver.See“Removingorextendingtheserverfromtherackcabinet”onpage75.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage75.
4.Removethecoolingshroud.See“Removingandreinstallingthecoolingshroud”onpage78.
5.Locatethememoryslotsonthesystemboardandreadthememorymoduleinstallationrules.See
“Memorymoduleinstallationrules”onpage85.
6.Disconnectanycablesthatmightimpedeyouraccesstothememoryslots.
7.Locatethememorymodulethatyouwanttoremoveandopentheretainingclipsonbothendsofthe
memoryslot.Then,graspthememorymodulebyitsedgesandcarefullypullitstraightuptoremoveit
fromthememoryslot.
