If the hybrid system will not start
When the hybrid system cannot be started even though the correct
starting procedure is being followed
Cause Remedy
If the smart entry & start system
has been disabled by a setting, the
electronic key may not operate
normally.
Make sure that the smart entry & start system
has not been disabled by a customization set-
ting. If the function has been disabled, enable
it.
If the electronic key has been set
to battery saving mode, it may not
operate normally.
Check if electronic key has been set to bat-
tery saving mode. If it is, cancel the mode.
There may not be sufficient fuel in
the vehicle’s tank.
Refuel the vehicle.
There may be a malfunction in the
immobilizer system.
● If the key is touching or is covered by a
metallic object, move the key away from
the object.
● If the key is near to or touching a key to the
security system (key with a built-in trans-
ponder chip) of another vehicle, move the
key away from the other key.
There may be a malfunction in the
steering lock system.
Contact any authorized Lexus retailer or
Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable re-
pairer.
The hybrid system may be mal-
functioning due to an electrical
problem such as electronic key
battery depletion or a blown fuse.
However, depending on the type of malfunc-
tion, a temporary measure is available to start
the hybrid system.
There may be a malfunction in the
shift control system.
