Conditions for Triggering Air Bag
Conditions for triggering air bag are designed
as follows: Air bag system will be tri ggered in
case of a fro ntal crash to certain extent; air
bag system may be tri ggere d in case of
a special cra sh.
Generally, th e air bag syste m will not be
tri ggere d in case of a slight fro ntal crash and
side impact, or bump against the rear part
of the vehicle, or overtu rn of the vehicle.
Under such circumsta nces, dri ver and
passenger can be prote cte d by th eir safety
belts.
Decisive fa cto r for trig gerin g air bag syste m:
Give an overa ll intelligent comparis on between
the set value and decelera ti on curve produced
in a cra sh and re quired by ECU and th en make
a judgement. The air bag will not be trig gered
if the pro duced and detected decelerati on signal
is below th e re late d re fere ntial set value in th e
ECU, alth ough th e vehicle may have been
distorte d serio usly in th e crash.

The Situations That Air Bag Will Not Explode
Air bag may not be tri ggered in the
above three situations.
The deployment of air bag can be fi nished
in a fra ction of a second. Thus the air bag
can pro vide pro tecti on fo r driv er and
passenger in case of an accident.
Deployment of air bag will cause a larg e noise,
but it will not cause injury to people in most
cases (t he possibility of ti nnitus or temporary
hearing loss is not excluded. However, th is
phenomenon will disappear quickly). The air,
produced by the deployment of air bag, may
have an odor and will affe ct your appetite , but
it will not cause to xicosis. In th e pro cess of
charging air, th e air bag will give out a bit of
smoke, which is a normal phenomenon.
No fire will occur, so worry is unnecessary .
