Caution! The laser head is constructed from
stainless steel and is heavy. Take appropriate
precautions when lifting or moving the system to
avoid safety hazards and/or mechanical shock to the
head, which may result in damage. Ideally, two
people should move the head, and only when
absolutely necessary.
Caution! If a PC was supplied with your system, it
should be used only with your M Squared laser
system and supplied UI. Use of the PC for any other
purpose and/or with other software could corrupt
your system control interface, which may cause
system damage, a safety hazard, and void your
warranty.
4.4 Installing the SolsTiS Wavelength Control Unit
Caution! The supplied netbook PC should be used
only with the SolsTiS laser system and supplied UI.
Use of this PC for any other purposes and/or with
other software could corrupt the system control
interface, may cause a safety hazard, may damage
your system, and may void your warranty.
Caution! Do not apply AC power to the SolsTiS
control unit, which may cause a change in SolsTiS
output wavelength, until after SolsTiS has been
installed with the designated pump laser, and its
optical performance has been verified against the
factory Final Test sheet per instructions in Chapter 5.
Wavelength tuning (and, depending on the SolsTiS model
purchased, frequency scanning and locking) of SolsTiS is carried
out via the supplied software UI. This UI is stored in the onboard
memory of the SolsTiS wavelength control unit, and may be
accessed simply by:
Booting up the supplied laptop computer (see accompanying
laptop manual if necessary) and initializing its web browser
program.
Using the supplied Ethernet cable to connect the Ethernet port
on the laptop computer to the Ethernet port on the rear of the
SolsTiS control unit.
Connecting AC power to the SolsTiS wavelength control unit
and activating the unit.
Selecting the web address of the SolsTiS wavelength control
unit from the web browser’s Favourites menu.
Following this sequence should bring the SolsTiS wavelength
control UI into view on the laptop’s screen.
