6 Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Danger! There are neither user-serviceable parts inside the
SolsTiS laser head, nor control units, nor Pump Integration Kit
(PIK), or associated Pump Optics Module (POM) routing the
pump beam from your pump laser to the SolsTiS. Operating
your system with any cover removed may expose the user to
high voltages and/or laser radiation hazards, risks
contamination of optical surfaces, and will void your warranty.
Warning! Please refer to all information contained in all
instruction manuals associated with your system. Failure to
follow all instructions in these manuals may cause safety
hazards, may damage your system, and will void your
warranty.
The SolsTiS laser system contains no user-serviceable internal parts, and
covers should never be removed from any part of the system. If you
experience difficulties with the normal operation of your laser system that
cannot be remedied by the procedures described in this manual, or other
manuals that accompanied your system, please contact M Squared Lasers or
an authorized representative to correct the problem (see Chapter 7 -
Customer Service).
6.1 Recommended Maintenance Schedule
Aside from the following recommended maintenance procedures, the SolsTiS
laser system is an alignment- and maintenance-free device:
Occasional careful cleaning of the SolsTiS laser head external input
and output windows (only when absolutely needed and only by using
the procedure for cleaning laser optics described in Appendix A).
Warning! Incorrect or unnecessary cleaning of
SolsTiS’ input or output window may result in a
laser safety hazard, and/or damage to the optical
surface of this window requiring a Return To
Factory repair.
Periodic verification that the laser system safety features
are still in compliance with applicable IEC/CE/CDRH safety
regulations (see Section D.6).
For SolsTiS systems that require or use supplemental water
cooling - periodic inspection and replacement of the cooling
water in the cooling system, either when this water appears
very discoloured or contaminated, or at least once every six
months, or per the interval recommended in the manual
accompanying your water chiller.
SolsTiS is optimised for use with a wide range of different
third-party IEC/CE/CDRH-certified DPSS pump lasers.
DPSS pump lasers generally contain one or more NIR
diode lasers. This diode laser is a consumable item that will
eventually need replacement (although diode laser lifetimes
now typically exceed tens of thousands of hours). In
general, however, diode lasers are not user changeable
items. Consequently, if a diode change is needed, please
contact M Squared Lasers or your authorized
representative (see Chapter 7 – Customer Service).
