Turning the Compass Off/On
The electronic compass does cause a minor drain on the batteries and you have to option of
turning it off to conserve battery life. This battery drain is very minor so it is unlikely that
you will need to shut the compass off for this. Another reason you may want to turn the
compass off is if you are in an area where you cannot avoid large, metallic obects, such as in
a vehicle.
1. Press MENU.
2. Use the Arrow joystick to highlight Preferences.
3. Press ENTER.
4. Use the Arrow joystick to highlight Pwr Management.
5. Press ENTER.
6. Use the Arrow joystick to highlight the Electronic Compass field.
3. Press ENTER.
4. Use the Arrow joystick to select Off or On.
6. Press ENTER.
