ERROR PATH OF COOLANT TEMPERATURE OUTPUT
COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
The component driver for the coolant temperature outputs the variable as a PWM signal to the power stage.
(Output on the cluster) In normal operation, the PWM power stage is tested for short circuit to battery, to
ground, open circuit and excess temperature.
NORMAL OPERATION
The coolant temperature output voltage, which is given to the cluster from ECU as an output.
The ECU checks whether this voltage is within a specified range (0 or 5V).
DTC Detecting Condition Probable Causes
No indication of Coolant temperature on the instrument cluster
Open or short circuit in the wiring
harness from ECU to temperature
gauge in instrument cluster
Open or short temperature gauge
