Step 1
 Connect the smart tester
 Turn the ignition ON
 Initialize the diagnostic tool
 Record the error codes and clear
 Turn ignition OFF
 Turn ignition ON
 Verify if
P 1633 or P1634
is present
 Clear the DTC and verify
Is P 1633 or P1634
present?
NO
YES
 Turn ignition OFF
 Ambient air temperature
sensor connector
DISCONNECTED
 ECU connector
CONNECTED
 Turn ignition ON
 Measure the voltage
between pin 1 and battery
negative
 Ignition OFF
 Air temperature sensor
connector DISCONNECTED
 ECU connector CONNECTED
 Check the continuity between
pin 2 and pin 1 of the Air
temperature sensor

Is voltage 4.85V

5.15V?

Does continuity
exist?
 Ignition OFF
 Examine the short to
ground
 Repair/replace the
wiring harness
 Clear the DTC and
verify
