 Coolant temperature sensor

 ECU connector CONNECTED
 Check the continuity between
pin 2 and pin 1 of the coolant
temperature sensor
YES
Does continuity
exist?
 Ignition OFF
 Examine the short to
ground
 Repair/replace the
wiring harness
 Clear the DTC and
verify
Go to Step 4

 Connect the smart tester
 Turn the ignition ON
 Initialize the diagnostic tool
 Record the error codes and clear
 Turn ignition OFF
 Turn ignition ON
 Verify if P 0118 or P 0117 is
present
 Clear the DTC and verify
Is P 0118 or P0117
present?
NO
YES
 Turn ignition OFF
 Coolant temperature sensor
connector
DISCONNECTED
 ECU connector
CONNECTED
 Turn ignition ON
 Measure the voltage
between pin 1 and battery
negative
Is voltage 3.5V
to
6.5V?
