6. Internaldamage:TheGPSreceiverlocatedwithintheunitmayhavebeendamagedduringthe
installationorhandling.HandletheGMRasyouwouldanyelectronicdevice.Donotsubjecttheassembly
(particularlytheantennainputconnector)toelectrostaticdischarge(ESD)duringhandling.When
handlingorinstallingthedevice,observepr
operESDprotectionmethods.Ataminimum,discharge
yourselftoaconvenientgroundbeforehandlingtheGMR.Preferably,useastaticdischargewriststrap
connectedtoEarthgroundwhenhandling,installingand/orconfiguringthedevice.
7. Inappropriatepowerapplication:TheGPSoptionprovidespowertothepre‐amplifiedGPSantennausing
lowvoltagesuppliedonth
ecenterpinoftheantennacable.ToavoiddamagetotheGPSreceiver(and/or
antenna)causedbyashortcircuit,makeallantennaconnectionsonlyafterallpowerisremovedfromthe
unit.
8. Incompatibleantenna:Donotuseantennasprovidedbyothers.Theymaynotbecompatiblewiththe
GPSante
nnasuppliedwithyoursystemandmaydamagetheGP Sreceiverunit.
9. Damageduringinstallation:TheGPSantennacablescanbedamagedbypullingandtwistingthe
connectors.Youshouldalsoavoidpinchingandover‐bendingthecables.Suchabusemayoccurwhile
usingacab
lepuller.Ensurethatyoudonotpulldirectlyontheconnectorsduringtheinstallation.Ensure
thatyoudonottwisttheconnectoratthelocationwheretheconnectormeetsthecable,asthiscan
damagethebraid.Thecoaxialcableshouldnotbecrushed,crimpedorbentatasharpanglenorshouldit
bestrainedbypulling.
10. CoilingIfthecab
leistobecoiledforstorage,thecoildiametershouldbeatleastsixinchesforquarter‐
inchcable,twicethatforlargercablediameters.
