PROBLEM:๎๎
๏ท NTP/SNTP๎client๎is๎unable๎to๎communicate๎with๎the๎GMR.๎
POSSIBLE๎REASONS/SOLUTIONS:๎
1. Verify๎that๎the๎GMR๎is๎attached๎to๎the๎network.๎
2. Verify๎that๎all๎network๎cables,๎hubs,๎etc.๎are๎in๎proper๎working๎order.๎Be๎sure๎that๎Ethernet๎crossover๎cables๎
are๎not๎being๎used๎where๎inappropriate.๎
3. Verify๎that๎the๎GMR๎is๎actually๎reachable๎from๎the๎client.๎Try๎โpingingโ๎the๎IP๎address
๎of๎the๎GMR.๎If๎this๎fails,๎
it๎is๎possible๎that๎it๎has๎an๎invalid๎network๎configuration๎or๎that๎the๎network๎is๎down.๎Consult๎your๎network๎
administrator๎for๎assistance.๎
4. Verify๎that๎the๎GMR๎is๎set๎to๎output๎if๎operating๎in๎internal๎oscillator/real๎time๎clock๎mode๎and๎that๎the๎
maximum๎time๎
difference๎has๎not๎been๎exceeded.๎
5. Verify๎that๎the๎client๎is๎not๎using๎โSymmetric๎Activeโ๎mode.๎The๎GMR๎does๎not๎use๎Authentication๎and๎will๎not๎
work๎with๎NTP/SNTP๎clients๎in๎a๎โSymmetric๎Activeโ๎mode.๎๎

PROBLEM:๎๎
๏ท The๎NTP๎client๎indicates๎that๎the๎GMR๎is๎providing๎invalid๎time,๎or๎has๎flagged๎time๎as๎invalid.๎
POSSIBLE๎REASONS/SOLUTIONS:๎
1. The๎GMR๎will๎always๎answer๎NTP๎requests๎(unless๎the๎client๎is๎set๎to๎use๎symmetric๎active๎mode).๎The๎GMR๎
will๎flag๎time๎as๎invalid๎if๎it๎does๎not๎have๎trusted๎time๎to๎distribute.๎This๎may๎occur๎temporarily๎during๎GPS๎
navigation๎state๎changes๎or๎before๎the๎first๎GPS๎acquisition๎during๎power
๎up๎following๎a๎long๎period๎without๎
power.๎
2. By๎default,๎the๎GMR๎will๎begin๎flagging๎time๎invalid๎after๎24๎hours๎of๎consecutive๎GPS๎acquisition๎failure๎or๎
nonโoperation๎(i.e.๎power๎off).๎This๎is๎a๎protective๎feature.๎It๎can๎be๎adjusted๎or๎disabled๎if๎desired.๎๎

๏ท The๎UTC๎date๎and๎time๎are๎incorrect๎and๎the๎GMR๎does๎not๎retain๎time๎settings๎when๎powered๎down๎or๎up.๎
POSSIBLE๎REASONS/SOLUTIONS:๎
The๎GMR๎maintains๎its๎internal๎time๎in๎batteryโbacked๎memory๎located๎using๎a๎RealโTime๎Clock๎(RTC).๎The๎battery๎
supplies๎power,๎up๎to๎24๎hours,๎to๎the๎TCXO๎32kHz๎oscillator๎and๎RTC๎when๎the๎unit๎is๎powered๎off.๎This๎allows๎the๎
internal๎configuration๎to๎be๎maintained๎and๎the๎time๎and๎date
๎to๎continue๎to๎increment.๎So,๎if๎there๎is๎a๎problem๎
here,๎the๎internal๎battery๎likely๎needs๎replacement.๎๎
The๎battery๎type๎is๎a๎โmaintenance๎freeโ๎3V๎rechargeable๎magnesium๎lithium๎battery.๎It๎can๎be๎replaced๎by๎a๎
qualified๎technician.๎Or๎the๎unit๎can๎be๎sent๎to๎technical๎support๎at๎Masterclock.๎๎
