Checking the air filter
1. Unscrew the screw holding the cover in place.
Remove the disassembly cover.
2. Press down the catch holding the air filter cover
in place.
3. Remove the air filter and inspect it to see if it
needs replacing.
4. Fit a new air filter if necessary.
5. Refit the air filter cover.
6. Screw the disassembly cover back into position.
NOTE: Never operate the generator without an air
filter. The engine would be damaged and stop
working.
Starting the engine
Make sure there are no appliances connected to the
generator before starting. Check that the generator is
level and stable.
1. Set the fuel vent cap to ON.
2. Set the engine switch to ON.
3. Set the fuel valve to ON.
4. Set the choke to OFF.
5. Firmly hold the generator handle and the starter
grip.
6. Slowly pull the starter grip until you feel resistance. Then quickly pull the starter grip to completely
unwind the starter cord. Do not allow the starter cord to snap back. Instead, allow the cord to
rewind slowly.
7. When the engine is running smoothly, set the choke to ON.
8. If the engine fails to start, repeat the above steps.
9. If the engine fails to start after five or six attempts, refer to the Troubleshooting section.
NOTE:
The engine must only be started and operated outdoors. The engine may need adjusting if the generator
is used at heights of 1500 metres or more above sea level.
Use
Before connecting equipment to the generator, check that the total power requirements of the equipment
does not exceed the rating of the generator.
1. Connect the ground lead of the generator to the ground (earth) terminal and the ground spike.
Make sure they do not come into contact with wet surfaces.
2. Start the generator and check that the output indicator light is green.
3. Before connecting the equipment to the generator, make sure the equipment is all turned off.
4. Connect the equipment.
NOTE:
The overload indicator light may come on for a short while together with the output indicator light when
the engine is started. If the overload indicator light does not go out after a short while, turn off the
generator and investigate why overload is being indicated.
If using an extension cord, it must be intended for the purpose and have the capacity to deliver the power
required to run the connected equipment.
DC operation
When using the generator to operate DC equipment, the smart throttle control must be in the OFF
position. The DC output can be used at the same time as the AC output. Make sure that the total load is
not too high.
1. Connect the 12 V wire’s red clip to the equipment’s + terminal.
