The straight stitch is the most common stitch. There are two possible needle positions, in the middle and
to the left.
Zigzag stitch
Stitch selection: 3, 4 or 5
Stitch length: 1–4
Presser foot: Standard presser foot
Thread tension: 2–6
Simple zigzag stitches are often used to make buttonholes and to sew stretch fabrics. Their most
important area of use, however, is overcasting fabric edges so that they do not fray.
