2 Maintenance
6. Fit the the correct value of shims as previously calculated
(Fig 2.19) (see Shim Pack Calculation Section) into the base
o
f the inner bearing bore of the carrier (Fig 2.20).

7. Apply assembly oil to the bearing seat area of the carrier
(Fig2.21) and using a suitable tool (CT42), press the inner
b
earing cup into the carrier until it is squarely against the
shoulder in the bottom of its bore (Fig.2.22).
Apply a press load of 6 - 8 tons.
