2 Maintenance
26. Install the bearing cup and adjusting ring L.H.(Fig.2.43) and
install the cap screws and washers that hold the L.H. cap to
t
he carrier. Tighten all the cap screws by hand four to six
turns (Fig.2.44), then tighten to the correct torque value
200 Nm + 90°-105°.
27. Adjust the preload of differential bearings. Using a suitable
tool (CT12), tighten the crown wheel side bearing adjuster
r
ing (Fig.2.45) while turning the crown wheel by hand. When
a resistance is felt at the crown wheel, stop tightening the
adjuster ring.
28. Back off the adjuster ring by 2 notches.
Adjust Differential Bearings Preload
1. Fit two dial indicators according to the above scheme on “X” or
“Y” axis against the wing’s caps and set in the ZERO position.
