4. Apply assembly oil to the pinion shaft (Fig 2.15) and press the
inner cone firmly against the pinion head shoulder using a
s
uitable tool, which applies pressure only on the bearing inner
cone face (Fig.2.16). Apply a press load of
6 - 8 tons.
5. Press the outer cup of pinion bearing firmly into its bore in the
carrier. Apply a press load of 6 - 8 tons, using a suitable tool
(
CT43), which is the same size as outer race (Fig.2.17).
Press the bearing until is squarely against the shoulder in the
bottom of its bore (Fig.2.18).
