Unless otherwise specified, this manual uses the following terms.

CC-Link IE A generic term for CC-Link IE Controller Network and CC-Link IE Field Network
CC-Link IE Controller Network-equipped module A generic term for the following modules when the CC-Link IE Controller Network function is used:

CC-Link IE Field Network-equipped master/local module A generic term for the following modules when the CC-Link IE Field Network function is used:

Control CPU A CPU module that controls connected I/O modules and intelligent function modules.
In a multiple CPU system, a control CPU is set to each connected module.
Control system A system that controls a redundant system and performs network communications in a redundant
system
CPU module A generic term for the MELSEC iQ-R series CPU modules
Dedicated instruction An instruction that facilitates the programming to use the functions of a module
Engineering tool The product name of the software package for the MELSEC programmable controllers
Ethernet interface module with built-in CC-Link IE Another name for the RJ71EN71
Extended temperature range base unit A generic term for base units compatible with an operating ambient temperature of 0 to 60.
Extension base unit The abbreviation for the MELSEC iQ-R series extension base unit
Extension cable The abbreviation for the MELSEC iQ-R series extension cable
I/O module A generic term for the input module, output module, I/O combined module, and interrupt module
Intelligent function module A module that has functions other than input and output, such as an A/D converter module and D/

Power supply module The abbreviation for the MELSEC iQ-R series power supply module
Process CPU A generic term for the R08PCPU, R16PCPU, R32PCPU, and R120PCPU
Process CPU (process mode) A Process CPU that operates in the process mode.
Process control function block and the online module change function can be executed.
Process CPU (redundant mode) A Process CPU that operates in the redundant mode.
This CPU module can be used for building a redundant system. Process control function block
and the online module change function can be executed even in this mode.
Programmable controller CPU A generic term for the R04CPU, R04ENCPU, R08CPU, R08ENCPU, R16CPU, R16ENCPU,
R32CPU, R32ENCPU, R120CPU, and R120ENCPU

This unit is used together with redundant power supply modules, to build a redundant power
supply system.
