4 Troubleshooting
If a problem occurs while using this product, try one of the solutions provided below. If the solutions do
not resolve the problem, contact the agent where you purchased the product or Mitutoyo sales repre-
sentative for a repair.
4.1 If the Following Problem Occurs
Based on the problem, determine the cause and the solution.
Problem Cause Solution
The power does not
turn on when [Power
button] is pressed.
The batteries are not inserted
correctly.
Reinsert the batteries.
The batteries have died. Replace the batteries with new ones.
The AC adapter (optional ac-
cessory) is not properly con-
nected.
Reconnect the AC adapter (optional acces-
sory).
The batteries are
depleted quickly.
The LED is set for continuous
use.
y Change the setting of the LED lighting.
Tips
For details, see "3.7 Setting the LED Light-
ing Time" on page 50.
y Remove the batteries if the product will not
be used for an extended period of time.
Theair-oatfunction
does not work (the
battery depletion
icon is only lit when
theair-oatswitchis
pressed).
The batteries are too low for
theair-oatfunctiontooperate.
y Replace all four batteries with new ones.
y Connect an AC adapter (optional acces-
sory).
Tips
Theair-oatfunctionusesanexcessive
amount of electrical power. If you use this
function often, using an AC adapter (op-
tional accessory) is recommended.
Whenusingtheair-oatfunction,the
batterylife(untiltheair-oatfunctionno
longer operates) is around 1.5 hours.
Measurements are
not made even when
the tip of the stylus
comes in contact with
a workpiece (there is
no beep sound).
The clamp knob is locked. Loosen the clamp knob.
The displayed value
is being held, and
the workpiece cannot
be measured ([H]
remains displayed on
the LCD).
The displayed value is held. Press the [HOLD DATA] key to release the
hold on the value.
The clamp knob is locked. Followtheinstructionsin"■Whenthecount-
er value is held, and the measurement can-
not be made" on page 58 to loosen the
clamp knob.
