Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network
Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology that provides network access at distances of up to 100 meters (328 feet)
depending on the Wi-Fi router and your surroundings. You can connect any tablet to a Wi-Fi network. This
connection requires access to a functioning Wireless Access Point (WAP), also called a “hotspot.” Some hotspots
are open to the public, others implement security features to limit access to specific groups or individuals. The
range and quality of the signal is affected by the number of connecting devices, the infrastructure, and the objects
through which the signal is transmitted.
To Establish a Wi-Fi Network Connection
1. Swipe in from the right to display the Windows Charms bar.
2. Tap Settings, then tap Network to display the available Wi-Fi networks.
3. Tap the ID of the network you want to connect, then follow the onscreen instructions to connect to the network.
Tap and hold the Wi-Fi network for about two seconds to view its speed, security, address, and other
information.
Your tablet supports the proxy feature for Wi-Fi connections with which you can access more web-based sources
and browse the Internet more securely. Consult your IT administrators about proxy settings.
To Configure the Proxy Settings
1. Swipe in from the right to display the Windows Charms bar.
2. Tap Settings, tap Network, then tap Proxy.
3. Tap the Use a proxy server bar to turn it to On.
4. Enter the Address and Port of the proxy server.
